Free itunes

Every year at the start of the summer I start down loading my summer fun music.

You know, the music that makes you think of sitting by the pool with a big glass of lemonade and maybe one of those little umbrellas with some fresh fruit stuck to it.

There is nothing I like better than cranking my tunes and heading outside for some sun and fun.

You wanna do it to?

To help you kick off your sunny season right, I'm giving away one $15 itunes gift card.

All you have to do is leave a comment.  The drawing ends Wednesday at midnight.  I'll post the winner Thursday morning.

In the mean time, here are some of my summer fun song suggestions to get your list started.

Fireflies by Owl City
Why Do You Let me Stay Here?  by She and Him
Only You by Train
Fame by Naturi Naughton
Dirty Laundry by Bitter:Sweet

I'm a music junkie and I'm always up for some new suggestions if you've got 'um.

I will have to check out those tunes. Every year I download the "Grammy Nominees" album and it keeps my music from getting too stale, since I'm a grandma and all.

ipod is the greatest invention ever. Love that on itunes, you can get just the one song you dig instead of buying an entire album. Really digging The Avett Brothers these days...Kick Drum Heart, January Wedding,Ill with Want and Laundry Room.

Ok, so we need something new to listen to as well. The "Phineas and Ferb" CD I used to love has "somehow" managed to make it's way out of the van, and I know the order of the songs on Miley Cyrus, and Wizards of Waverly Place, pretty sad. Miss you guys. Did Z get her shiny, sparkly, pink turd for her b'day?

I have so many things to do that I am afraid I should have never taken a peek at your blog today. Still, LOVE music more than life (almost) so have to add my two-cents. I actually planned on sharing my favorite British band with your for v.t. this month. Not anything spiritual, mind you, just something to lift your spirits and put some groove back into your day. Keane. They featured a song of theirs on a Chuck episode once, that my DH Shazaamed, and had to immediately get their latest album. My dear friend in Seattle is also a fan and she got me hooked on their whole collection. That is just one...
I also love classic alternative. Nothing picks me up like a classic The Cure, Friday I'm in Love or Letter to Elise. Or jump me back a few decades to some Neil Diamond "Fovever in Bluejeans" (Love Glee and their ability to jump the genres). I also love my music a little twisted. Give me some heartbreaking lyrics with music that makes me dance uncontrollably around the kitchen - my latest find, Modest Mouse's "Missed the Boat" (careful on their songs as they need to be screened for family listening) - and I will forever love Morrissey and The Smiths for the same reason. Got hooked on them in high school for their "can't go out tonight because I haven't got a thing to wear" (This Charming Man) lyric and uncontrollable dancability factor. Or their Hairdresser on Fire "Here is London, home of the brash, outrageous, and free. You are repressed but remarkably dressed. Is it real." I have also gotten hooked on Pandora because of the constant stream of music I love by bands just waiting for me to fall in love with. If you haven't already tried it, you should!

I have just one word to add to your new music list: Saybia.

Check them out. They're a Danish band that had their first big album come out when I was working there. Their albums now have US releases (& thus are on iTunes). My favorite tracks are:

- Eyes on the Highway (Eyes on the Highway)
- Brilliant Sky (These are the Days)
- I Surrender (There are the Days)
- The Day After Tomorrow (The Second You Sleep)

PS - Leca, I love your blog. I'm glad someone else is wearing similar shoes (although I admire you with 4 kids -- I have 2 & that seems like lots)
