Guilt, it tastes like M&Ms

Today I went to the grocery store to do my stinkin' shopping.  I broke the grocery shopping code.

What?!?

You didn't know there was a code?

Well, there is... and you should know it.

NEVER SHOP FOR FOOD WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY!

See... it's an important one, huh?

To be perfectly honest hunger wasn't my biggest problem because I had just eaten lunch.  The problem was I was ready for dessert.  I had that sweet tooth craving that is so hard to kick.  I had a nice warm belly and it was waiting for a quick capper.  Just a little something sugary to finish off my lovely lunch.

So, I left the store with...

Lucky Charms
Double Stuft Oreos
Double Stuft Golden Oreos
Three flavors of ice cream (cause one just isn't enough)
Peanut M&Ms
Regular M&Ms
Root beer
Waffle cones
Sprite
Snickerdoodles

and a whole lot of guilt.

In fact as I type the M&Ms are literally calling my name.  It's the perfect time for a little indulgence.  The kids are tucked in bed, the mister is in his office and the dog is napping.  There is no one to pester me to share.  NO ONE!

OK, that's it!  If it's between you and the M&Ms-- the M&Ms win tonight.

Sorry, we're close... but not that close.

See you tomorrow!

I was hunger for a sweet too when I went to buy milk and butter today. I did good I only got 4 candy bars. Two for me and two for Dennis. I'll eat half of one of mine tonight.

That grocery store code is SO true. I always analyze my food choices as I watch them scoot down the conveyer belt. Then I think, "Hey I did pretty well" or "Yikes, I'm going to have a heart attack." Depends on the day.

I always buy good stuff, hungry or not, because if I don't I will have to make another trip later on when it's cold, dark, and I am tired. So, to be safe I just buy it. It keeps until I am ready. Which usually is right after I get home.

I find that if I don't indulge in the sweet tooth calling my name I eat tons of other things to help avoid the craving for something sweet. To top it off in the end, after I've eaten everything else to help get ride of the craving I still end up indulging in something sweet. Which means instead of just having a 200 calorie sweet craving I've made it about a 500 one to avoid the craving. Moral of my comment, when I want something sweet, I don't deprive myself!
