Bugs!

There are very few things that actually enrage me.

Bugs are at the top of that very short list.  ...and getting hit in the face but we will discuss that another time.

I love everything about the summer time EXCEPT bugs.  They drive me insane.

I have had some very disturbing experiences with bugs so I try to limit my contact with them.

Many years ago I was traveling abroad and I was forced to stay at a place that was infested with ants.  I mean, the floor was moving, kind of infestation.  I spent the night trying to stay away from them.  Finally in the wee hours of the morning I slipped into the bathroom to take a shower and when I was finished I grabbed my pile of clean clothes.  As I was slipping my undies on I noticed several ants were crawling on them-- AHHHH!  Me and ants are no longer on speaking terms.  I see them and I spray without asking questions.

I also have a great fear of spiders.  (I can't even bring myself to put a real picture of one here-- too gross.)  The Mister is always in charge of bug killing.  One day, after he left for work, I saw a huge (I mean like 50 cent piece big) spider with the hairy chunky legs and I lost it.  After letting out my inner girl, I went back into the room and threw a bowl over it.  It was nasty.  I shut the door and left it there for the rest of the day until the Mister came home from work several hours later.  It was quite traumatic I assure you.

Finally, my latest foe is the mosquito.  Our family has been invited several places lately for outside parties.  We always bring our bug spray but the mosquitos are still unbelievable.  It makes me instantly angry.  There is nothing worse than a bug that bothers you and then keeps you itching for days to come.  The insanity of it all!  So I've sent the Mister out to our yard to spray for them several times.  I'm going to nail those suckers once and for all.  It's war!

Who's with me?

Have you seen "Overboard"?

"I just. . . ate a bug. . . "

That's been me. Two or three times this summer so far? Can't remember.

I'm scared of bats, but understand that they serve a purpose; to eat mosquitoes. But what purpose do mosquitoes serve? The worst is when they are by your ear and you can hear them buzz. Yuck-o!

That spider story was too funny. But I'm with you with those mosquitos, can't stand them!

I hate the flies that invade my kitchen. I keep a bottle of windex on my counter and spray those suckers at first sight. Yes, I am a fan of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" where the guy uses windex for everything.

I cannot cope with spiders! I was a counselor at a camp and we happened to see turantulas as we were leaving chapel...yeah, forget the whole I'm responsible for your safety....I was out of there!

I live in Utah and the bugs are bad but nothing like there. I've been told stories, ugly stories about your bugs, I would hate to have them like you do. Does spraying them help? Where do you spray? Like out side or what? Good luck. I can not stand the bees. Put out food and here they come. Protect your self!! What good are summer evenings if the bugs are always there?

OMG, I just assumed I was the only person on earth that had actually placed a bowl on top of a bug/spider for husband to kill later. I have done it more than once but my most traumatic experience was accidentally stepping on a spider at least as big as teh one you described, barefoot. I literally screamed loud enough for neighbors to hear me and I can still feel it when I think about it. GROOOOOOOSSS!

Ugg! This summer I got bit by a bug and the bite seriously swelled up to the size of a dollar bill. It was big and red and on my leg for the world to see. GROSS! I had to be on antibiotics. When I went to the doctor I was told that it was just an allergic reaction (so glad that through my husband's school the visit was free! Duh I'm having an allergic reaction!) The antibiotics were to be proactive for an infection. After that experience I've been freaked out by bugs. Before that I had no problems with them, I killed them if they were in my house, because they don't belong there.
