Things I used ta couldn't live without

Have you ever sat around with people your age and talked about all the things you used to be into?  I love thinking of stuff I used to like and then trying to talk my kids into it.  It brought me so much joy as a kid, I'm sure it will bring them the same happiness.  Well, a few of those things should probably be amended because frankly, it's never as good as you remember it to be.
My sisters and I would fight over who got to wear these.  Apparently I've been obsessed with super heroes for a very long time.  I know, I have issues.
I use to buy these candy bars with my sister from the gas station up the road from us.  I only bought them because they were the biggest for my money's worth.  They are a bit nasty and quite chewy but you couldn't get anything bigger for 35 cents-- I guarantee it!
I use to race home from school to see this show.  I loved it.  I always wanted my own sea of money to swim in.  Ah, maybe some day.
I remember staying up "late" with my Dad to watch this gem.  I still hum the theme song from time to time.  Anyone with me on this one?
I had my mom make me a load of hammer pants (with matching cumber buns) to wear to school.  Oh, I looked goooood.  (thanks mom)  Nothing says style like a low baggy crotch.
This is another show I would race home to watch.  The best ones were when He-Man and She-Ra over lapped into each other's worlds and worked together to stop the bad guys.  I started my kids on this show and they love it too.  The bad news is-- it's a lot lamer than I remembered.
The Dukes of Hazzard is a classic.  I was too naive to get the whole hottie Daisy thing so it was all about catching the bad guys to me.  Plus hopping into a car without actually using the door-- how cool is that?
These were rare in our area (I mean the one gas station where we would buy our candy) and my sister and I would jump at the chance to buy these babies whenever we could.  I'm pretty sure my tastes have matured since then but I have bought a few from time to time just to indulge in the memories.
Pound Puppies!  I was in love with a boy in my class who had them all.  That was his only appeal to me.  I know, so shallow.  But hey, they were pretty hard to find back then because they were always selling out.  Don't judge!

These glasses were my pride and joy.  I hung onto these for a very long time until my sister's boyfriend accidentally ran them over.  (sniff sniff)  They are coming back in style and I have bought a pair for each of my girlies.  Hey, I can live through them every once in a while.

Thanks for taking a trip down memory lane with me.

What were you into back in the day?

How about PEZ? I could eat a ton of those right along with the kids! Talk about a waist to buy the holder when you could have just used that money on more PEZ!

I was into all that stuff too!...except the Underoos...I never had any of those...loved She-Ra. I still have my She-Ra castle in my attic..lol..also loved the Smurfs, and Scooby doo, and the popples..They just don't make good cartoons like they used to...I had Hammer pants, and we also used to tight roll our jeans and had slap bracelets :0)

We're obviously the same age as I could relate to ALL those things. Underoos were the best--I had R2D2 and C3PO ones, and since I don't have a sister I got them all to myself. I still like the chocolate charleston chews that come in the bite-size pieces ($1 at Walmart). I sneak them into the theatre.

It's hammer time! I totally had some of those pants. Mine had a CRAZY pattern to the fabric too. I used to wear them to dance because "they helped me dance". Aw, I'm such a dork, I'm all excited now. We used to watch the old Bat Man show, like the OLD one with Adam West, and no real violence because it was covered by "bang, wham, pow!" And we also never missed He-man. We even had some action figures. I think my nephew still has one or two of our old ones.

Were you a Seinfeld watcher? Remember when George had The Greatest American Hero theme song on his answering machine? "Believe it or not, George isn't at home... Where could he be?"

Amen to all of those. I'd only add Sledgehammer to that list. Saturday nights with mac and cheese and the guy that talked to his gun. That was the life.

I LOVED this post!

I had those wonder woman underoo's. I even remember wearing them to Dairy Queen for a dress up birthday party. My mom made me wristbands out of aluminum foil, I thought I was cool stuff!! Thanks for the memory!

I am soooo with you on humming the theme song! I loved that little diddy. I have not had a Charleston Chew in a long, looooong time.

I actually owned my own He-man action figure with battle armor that would get punch marks and then it would roll up and be good as new again. The only two I'm not with you on were the Hammer pants and the pound puppies. Very fun!

I loved all those too!! (except for maybe the hammer pants!). I also loved Smurfs and Love Boat, I felt so "grownup" watching that one. The big treat in our house was those apple pies, or sometimes I would get the chocolate filled ones, they were shaped like a half-circle, anyway, I found some a few years ago, and I looked on the back of the package and I couldn't believe how much saturated fat they had! I just couldn't bring myself to eat one again.

I've just landed here via I am Momma and I guess we're about the same sage, based on the cartoons you used to love as a kid! Now I should go and read your profile and find out if we are!
