My Auntie Anne's Addiction

GIVEAWAY CLOSED
I have been a fan of Auntie Anne's Pretzels for a very long time.  When I go to the mall there is a magnetic force actually pulling me towards their pretzel deliciousness.

When I was pregnant I craved their amazing Lemonade like no other.  I'm telling you-- I would walk miles for a glass of this stuff.  It's that good.

Recently Auntie Anne's has come up with a way to make their lemonade even better.  Impossible?  Well, that's what I thought.  They have created several lemonade mixers to enhance your lemonade experience.  You pick the flavor and they mix it up.  Their newest creations are Pomegranate and Mango.

I tried out the new flavors the other day and I was blown away.  The pomegranate was a fun summer twist on an old favorite.  I had my three year old niece with me and she finished it off in record time.  I also got a Mango and it made me feel like I was on a tropical vacation.  You know that tropical taste we all love?  Well, I offered some to my sister and a few seconds later-- gone!

It was a real hit with the three of us lemonade junkies.  I'm going to have to go back for more.  Only this time I'm going alone and I'm going to get one of their pepperoni pretzels too.  I'm going to take my loot and go hide next to the old men waiting for their wives to finish spending their money.

Now that I have your mouths drooling, I have something for you too.  I never like to eat alone so why don't you join me?

Auntie Anne's has offered five $5 gift cards for a five lucky readers!

OH BABY!!!!

Lemonade and pretzels for free!!!!

I must warn you-- these are highly addictive.  But you won't be alone.  I'm president of the lemonade pretzel addicted club.  We meet at the mall in front of Auntie Anne's on Thursday nights.  (I swear, I can quit any time.)

OK-- lets get down to business.  To enter all you need to do is...

Shoe Challenged

Last night we went to a piano recital for Zoey.

About twenty minutes into the recital Em asks to come sit on my lap.  He puts his feet up on me and I see this...

I'm usually pretty good about doing a shoe check before they get out the door because we have had several embarrassing incidents.  Apparently I missed this one.

When I questioned him about it he said, "What?  I couldn't find my other one so I just went with it!"

Nice.

High Alert!

We took the kids with to run some errands tonight.  All I had to do was run some flowers into the church for a recital.  It was a quick in and out.  I couldn't carry all the arrangements myself so I had the mister run them in with me.  That left the kids alone in the car for about 2 minutes by themselves.

When we returned to the car the kids popped up from the floor.

The Mister:  What are you guys doing?

Rugs:  We were hiding because we didn't want anyone to call the police.

The Mister:  What?

Em:  We shouldn't be left alone in the car and we thought someone would call the cops on you.

Breckyn:  Yeah and we were going to suffocate because of the green house effect!

The Mister:  We left the windows all the way down.  How were you going to suffocate?

I should tell you that the church we were at was very secluded and it was a beautiful day out.  It was only for a second and there was no danger present.  In fact the kids were all for us leaving them when we were going into the church.  They are getting old enough to be left alone-- but apparently they aren't quite ready for the responsibility.

I'm surprised they didn't gang up on us and call the cops themselves.

It's tough having whistle blowers for kids.

A little love from the Rugster!

I've been trying to come up with good end of the year teacher gifts.  I like to ask each kid what they think their teacher would like.  They usually have some pretty good ideas after spending everyday with their teacher for the whole year.

Last year Breckyn insisted that her teacher was sassy and she needed some sassy nail polish for a fun summer.  I ended up making a cute little package and including the sassy polish with a note about what Breckyn had said.

So this year I was doing my rounds and I asked Rugby what he thought his teacher would like.

Rugs (without hesitation):  I think she would like a picture of me, framed, with a note that says, "Have a great summer."

Me:  Oh really?  Anything else?

Rugs:  Oh, and I should get her some flowers too.

Look out world!  This little guy is a ladies man!  Grrrrr...

Music Exposure

I am obsessed with music.

I love to blast the tunes at my house.  Whether I'm feeling like dancing or crying, I use music to set the tone in our home.

My goal as a music nut is to expose my children to as many kinds of genres as possible.  I want their music palate to be broad.  That way when they get to the age that they start picking their own tunes to listen to they won't be so narrow minded.

I've got the worlds weirdest music list on my ipod.  I've got everything from old school jazz to swing, pop to rap, classical and show tunes, pepper in a little 80's and don't forget the rock and roll roots.  My "suggestions" list on itunes is a crazy miss match of music.  They aren't sure which category to put me under.

I love to see what they like.  Rugs was obsessed with Alannis Morrisett for a whole summer.  Em loves Steve Miller Band, Z was riding the Hannah Montana train for a few months and B just wants anything that she can dance to like Vanilla Ice.  They all get really excited when I announce I've downloaded new music to my ipod.  I love when my kids can identify random songs on the radio. It gives me a little happy bubble.

Although, some of them are better at it than others.  When Rugby started taking piano lessons his teacher would give him the notes to a song and have him guess the song of the week.

He had an entire week to guess it and he was sweating it from the minute he hopped back in the car.

Rugs:  Mom, can you just tell me what it is?

Me:  No, that would take away the fun of guessing.

Rugs:  Well, I have no idea what it is!  Please Mom!

Me:  OK, pass me the song and I'll hum it to you-- no words.  I'm sure you'll be able to guess it.

(I hum twinkle twinkle little star and stare at him trying to pass the answer to him with my mind.)

Rugs (with a duh look on his face):  Ummm.... Michael Jackson?

Me:  Uh, no.

(I hum louder.)

Rugs:  Ummm... The Beatles?

Me:  Not even close.

(I try singing it with words...)

Rugs:  I don't know Mom, all I can think is Michael Jackson!  What am I going to do?

Me:  It's twinkle twinkle buddy.  Seriously (I try humming it again)?

Rugs:  (blink blink)  Whaaat?  Don't look at me like that!

Lets just say, it's a work in progress.

Minivan Love

I have long proclaimed my love for my minivan.

I LOVE MY MINIVAN! (there just in case you haven't heard me say it yet... now you have)

I know there are some people out there who are afraid of the minivan image.  But to those cowards I would say-- you can't beat a minivan for space and functionality.

Seriously!

I have a Toyota with the automatic doors (Priceless for school drop offs because NO ONE ever shuts the door!).

I have seen the new Siennas out there and they are super pretty.  The mister is lucky because I'm still smitten with my old van and I'm not in the market for a new one just yet.  But when I'm ready I'm buying another Sienna-- hands down, THE BEST!

I saw this fly video about the new vans HERE.

Just a word of caution-- you are going to pee your pants with laughter on this one.  Priceless!

The Milk Chug

Sorry for the lack of posting the last few days.  We've had a busy weekend with lots of things to work on in our yard.  We spent a good majority of the holiday battling some do-it-yourself pool kits.  The box makes them look so easy and yet several hours later we are still in the back yard poking and pulling at the dang thing.

One of the things that we did manage to get to was the annual Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast.  Every year we have a breakfast at our church with a pancake eating contest and a milk chugging contest.  We get a chance to honor our veterans and have lots of fun.  It's a real crowd pleaser with our kids.

Zoey had been talking about defending her title as raining champion of the milk chug for about a week.  She was super jazzed and asked several times to practice at home.  I was not in favor of it and told her it was better to just save all of her energy for the real deal.

Well, at the last minute Rugby decided to enter the race.  He had a little devil look on his face as the contest was getting started.  Here's what happened...

The little stink barely even opened his mouth.  He just poured the milk all down himself so he would be sure to be the fastest.  (And yes, that is carpet he is standing on-- it was a real mess.)

He was shocked when he was disqualified.

Rugs:  "Moooom!  I was totally first!"

Me:  "Yeah, but you didn't actually drink anything!"

Rugs:  "They never said we had to do that.  They just said whoever was finished first."

Me:  "Nice."

That's my boy.
