We all have dirty little secrets.
It's a fact.
Stop denying it. We both know it's true.
Wanna know some of mine?
Sure you do. It's always easier going through someone else's issues-- isn't it?
1. When company comes over. I shove things in random places and hope that no one tries to open any cupboards. The other day I shoved my butter plate away and turned on the indirect lighting.... let your mind wonder. Yep, melted nasty butter all over my cupboard innards. Could have done without that.
2. I hardly (never) clean my blinds. I can't get the dust to come off. So I officially give up.
3. I hide stuff in my fridge. If it's something I know I should eat but really don't want to, it goes to the back. I leave it there until the expiration date is bad and then I'm forced to throw it out. I think, "Darn, I have to throw you out because the label says so-- but I totally would have eaten you..." It makes me and the food feel better when we part ways.
4. The mister and I have a silent war going. If I find something around the house that I don't want to find a place for, I chuck it in the storage room. The storage room is officially the mister's area. That means that when it's all exploded and messy, it's automatically his fault. Perfect.
5. I always look at my Q-tips and wonder how that much crap can come out of a person's ears. It makes me happy when I have a double Q-tip day.
6. Picking zits is fun. It just is.
7. I like walking around the house in my underwear. Now that we live in a neighborhood, that's becoming more of a challenge. If you are my neighbor and you've seen too much-- sorry about that. But not too sorry because it's probably not going to stop.
8. I avoid the back seats of our van. When I clean out the car I freak out and call the mister in to look at the monstrosity that is our van. But on a daily basis, I pretend that I don't know that there are science experiments growing in the back seat.
9. I throw away my bread heals. It drives my dad insane. But I don't like the heal and you can't make me eat it.
10. I have four garbage cans. I throw stuff away. I'm not sure what the rest of you are doing or where your trash is going. The people with one can-- how is that even possible? Yet it is, because I'm the only one in the entire neighborhood with four cans. I'm sure people call us the "four can" house.
Well, now that I have that off my chest...
How about you?

Confession
I hardly ever shave my legs.
It's the ugly truth.
When I was younger I would shave my legs every day sometimes more depending on how love struck I was at the time. I have found that the older I get, the less often I shave.
I use to look down my nose at people who didn't shave every single day. I thought it was tacky and gross.
I think I could be the president of the non-shavers club now.
I manage to shave when I have something important to do and I want to look just right. But just between you and me-- I have been blessed with blonde leg hair that is barely noticeable.
I find that my time in the shower is seriously limited thanks to my four lovely children. I always seem to be in a rush and shampooing takes priority over shaving every single time.
I know I'm not alone.
Don't be ashamed-- I do it too!

My Freak Secret of the Day
I love to mow the lawn.
Yeah, I know I just lost almost all of you; let me explain.
The mister and I have our house jobs lined up into two departments. It's either his department or mine. His consists of taking out the trash, buying electronics, killing bugs and answering the door when I'm not wearing a bra. I handle things like puke, cooking, mopping the floors, taking the kids to school and getting the mail.
For years mowing the lawn was strictly his department. He put some money into the perfect riding lawn mower and he protected it from me like his little pet.
Then a few summers ago the mister threw out his back while attempting to construct this playhouse for the kids.
That was my big chance!
I got my hands on his pretty pretty little pet...

I love it! It drives like a dream!
Now that he is all better we have a silent war going on at our house. Who will get to mow the lawn?
I wait until he has a really big important phone call for work and then I sneak out into the shed and snuggle up with my orange stallion.
The mister does the same dirty tricks to me. He tries to distract me by offering to watch the kids so I can go to the store. The next thing I know, he's out on the lawn mower. Evil Genius!

Confession
I am a time liar.
Yep, I like to under estimate my time.
When I say that it takes me about 15 minutes to get ready in the morning; I mean more like 25.
If I say that I'm running late and I'll be there in about 5 minutes. What I really mean is that short of a miracle and a few green lights-- it's going to be more like 10 minutes.
When I say that it only takes me 25 minutes to drive to Janesville, that means that I can't use my brakes and I have to keep my speed above 80 miles an hour. Otherwise, I'll be there in about 32 minutes. But doesn't 25 sound so much easier?
That's how I talk myself into going grocery shopping every week. I under estimate the actual time I'll be spending so it doesn't sound quite so long and tedious. It's like a little time pep talk for myself.
Come on Leca, you can do it. It's only going to take you 45 minutes. That's not so bad. (An hour later, I'm actually done and I have fooled myself yet again. Ha, I fall for it every time.)
I have a habit of under estimating my time so that it sounds better. I know, it's silly but it makes me feel more efficient to say something short and easy rather than long and annoying.
I also have a habit of setting my clocks ahead so that I can be time lied to. If it looks like I'm going to be late, it makes me feel better to say, "That clock is ahead so I'm not that late."
My kitchen clock is 5 minutes fast. My car clock is 7 minutes fast. My bedroom clock is 12 minutes fast (I really hate waking up in the morning and it works as a sleep buffer between me waking up, and actually having to be up.)
You'd think that time lying would get old. It doesn't.
I always hope that I'll forget how fast I set my clocks and be really early. Some how I always remember. Funny how that works...
How do you take your time?
